Jamestown/Lakewood Police Moves to P25

This discussion pertains to Jamestown/Lakewood police department’s move to a P-25 digital radio system.

Terry:

Nick, I have some updated frequency info for you. The Jamestown Police Dept. is moving to a new p25 digital system. The frequency will be 155.5950, ths will be the repeater output frequency. The input frequency is 158.9475. Hopefully you will be able to receive it out where you live. This should start sometime late this week or early next week.

Thanks so much for the update, Terry, I hadn’t heard that news. I probably won’t be able to get it out here unless they improve reception, I couldn’t hear the old analog system very well as it was.

Do you know if this also includes Lakewood and Busti? According to my notes they also used 155.655 for operations?

Thanks again and keep me posted!

ScanningEriePA:

Also do you know if 155.655 is being maintained by the department/county for other uses/backup or is it being abandoned? Thanks.

Terry:

I believe Lakewood-Busti will be on the new system. JPD still has a licence for the old freqency and it will probably be used as a backup or tactical frequency. The antenna site is now at a higher elevation, behind Bush School at the city reservoir. This fall a 100 ft + tower is going up. I have the new frequency ready to go for the radio reference feed.

Thanks for the info Terry. Keep us posted on any other developments!  73!

Terry:

Nick, I have another update. The new digital repeater has been on the air for a few weeks and works great. Due to the neighboring departments and the Sheriff’s Office not being able to access the repeater it is not being used for primary dispatch. An analog simulcast is being set up so the other agencies can still talk to JPD until they finally upgrade their radio’s. This should be done some time in July. 73/Terry

ScanningEriePA:

Thanks so much Terry, and it’s good to see progress being made with the new system and that it is working well. Is the digital system remaining on 155.655? If so do you know the freq for the analog simulcast? I would like to include that in the freq list, as well as to have it fr myself.

Thanks for keeping us posted! 🙂

Terry:

Nick, The JPD repeater is now being used. The frequency is 155.5950 P25 digital, repeater input is 158.9475. Lakewood-Busti PD is also on the new system. I believe that dispatch is still being simulcast on the old frequency of 155.655, however mobiles and portables can not be heard. My scanner providing the radioreference feed is broadcasting the new system. I was in Mayville the other day on work related business and I could hear the repeater up there so it way be possible to hear up your way.

Thanks for the info Terry. I’m surprised no one submitted a DB change to RadioReference… you might want to consider doing that. I will update my freqs pages with the info ASAP. I’m surprised though, that they put in this new system when a countywide trunked system is already being designed.
