Jamestown/Lakewood Now P25…?

August 16, 2013

A source has told ScanningEriePA that as of this past Wednesday evening the Jamestown/Lakewood police radio system in Chautauqua county is operating P25 digital, and comes to do so at this time. The system apparently remains on 155.655 MHZ. The source said that the county is happy with the new system, particularly because it increases the audio quality of field units by leaps and bounds, and because it allows even the weak portables to be heard clearly, without annoying hissing and static that decrease intelligibility.

This P25 system is the latest in a 6-million dollar project that will ultimately result in the county’s police, fire, and EMS agencies operating on a common trunked radio system. This system is still being designed but will hopefully be on air without too much delay.

I do not live in the reception area of the JPAID system. If you do, and you can let us know what the status of this system is, it would be greatly appreciated. We would like to update our frequency pages with the latest information, but are reluctant to do so right now without any concrete knowledge.

Thank you for your help!
