Multiple departments from across the region responded to the fire, which reportedly broke out just before 9:30 AM, and the chief of the Chautauqua VFD, Mark Powers, said that the home at 54 E. Lake Drive in the institution was completely destroyed just minutes after he arrived. He also said that a neighboring home at 52 E. Lake was heavily damaged.
